概要：The MA in the Anthropology of Development and Social Transformation, run by the Department of Anthropology, is intended for students wishing to pursue the study from an anthropological perspective of the complex economic, political and cultural processes of transformation in the post-colonial world. It also focuses on the anthropology of development and applied anthropology and will be of interest to those with experience in, or considering a career in, the development field. The programme addresses the ways in which anthropologists have theorised social and economic change, as well as the history and ethical implications of their practical engagement with development interventions. Through examination of detailed ethnographies it seeks to demonstrate the links between economic and political processes, changing identities and development intervention in a range of geographical contexts; the relationship between power, knowledge and resistance in discourses of development is another key theme.
