概要：This doctoral programme trains students to pursue a professional career as a National Health Service clinical psychologist. Up to 20 places are normally available and are financially supported by the NHS. The programme comprises academic teaching, self study, placements and research. The academic teaching is run jointly by University and NHS-based staff and covers psychological principles and their application. Topics include: assessment and formulation of clinical difficulties; core psychotherapeutic models and skills; teaching and training; research and evaluation methods; long-term models of care; managerial and professional issues; criminological and legal psychology; professional development; lifespan development; as well as consultancy and teamwork. Close links with the region?fs clinical psychologists enable a wide selection of placements to be offered, covering work with adults, children, people with learning disabilities and older adults. Trainees must be prepared to travel throughout the region.
