概要：The department has extremely good industry links and through this has opportunities for short-term industrial research projects. This is particularly attractive to mature students with industrial experience who wish to augment their qualifications within a specific area, but prefer the greater flexibility an MSc by Research would offer over a structured taught MSc. The main feature of this programme is the flexibility for learning. After an induction period, with a project supervisor, a learning contract will be completed between yourself, the university and where applicable an outside organisation. A research training needs analysis will be made and you will be made aware of research training opportunities offered by the department, faculty and university and encouraged to dedicate at least two weeks to this training during your enrolment. All research students have regular supervision and industry based students will be encouraged to visit the department to integrate with engineering's academic culture through attendance at, or presenting to seminar groups. You will be required to produce interim reports and a final project dissertation, which is a substantial document describing the research you have undertaken.
