概要：The Graduate Certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) is intended for overseas teachers of English who wish to obtain a formal qualification, gain knowledge and skills in teaching English as a foreign language, and develop increased fluency in English. Completing the Graduate Certificate in TELF can provide entry into the Master of Education (TESOL) for students whose English-language proficiency is insufficient to allow direct entry into the master's program. The evidence of English-language proficiency required by the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIC) for a visa to study a graduate-certificate course in Australia varies depending on what country has issued the applicant's passport but in all cases is less than that required by the faculty for admission to its masters' programs (an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each band). Intending applicants to the Graduate Certificate in TEFL course can create a customised list of necessary visa documents, including proof of English-language proficiency, by visiting the Visa Application Document Checklist page on the DIC website and selecting their passport nationality and "573 Higher Education" from the pull-down menus. The Graduate Certificate in TEFL is completed in one semester (commencing March) and there is no provision for part-time study. Successful completion allows direct entry into the Master of Education (TESOL) offered by the faculty.
