概要：The rapid growth of the Internet has led to the rise of software applications delivered to remote users throughout the world. The emergence of these new applications has revolutionised the way information is gathered, processed and delivered within and across organisations. It is a key enabling technology for globalisation. For instance, large corporations with offices located throughout the world are able to function as coherent units, and electronic commerce services can be delivered to customers and client businesses in a direct and timely fashion. This is an innovative, one-year, full-time degree, which covers the theory and practice of constructing software applications that operate on the Internet. A firm grounding is provided in networks, distributed systems, computer security and databases, as well as practical experience with technologies and tool kits for building Internet-based software. Students learn techniques for delivering software applications over the world wide web and for connecting component-based software using distributed objects and web services. They will learn about and build software applications using the currently dominant technologies, such as Enterprise Java and .NET. All students undertake a large, personally supervised project in the final four months of the course. Graduates of this degree gain the knowledge to become leaders in the field of Internet software systems and to shape the technologies that will be developed in the future.
