概要：The School of English at the University of Leeds is one of the top-rated departments in the country. Judged 'excellent' in its teaching, it is ranked amongst the top 10 English departments in the country for research (RAE2008, GPA 2.95; RAE2001, 5*A). G. Wilson Knight, A. Norman Jeffares and Geoffrey Hill were professors here, and J.R.R. Tolkien was a Reader. Alumni include world-renowned writers Wole Soyinka and Ngugi wa Thiong'o. With about 50 members of academic staff, schemes of MA study cover all areas of English literature from Old English to the present; in American and Commonwealth & Postcolonial Literatures; in English language and in Theatre Studies. You will be taught in small seminar groups, where we can offer individual support. We also have a lively postgraduate community We offer excellent library facilities in the Brotherton Library, a member of the Consortium of University Research Libraries. We pride ourselves on a very high completion rate for students at both MA and PhD levels, reflecting the careful supervision and individual attention all postgraduate students receive.
