概要：The programme offers you sufficient opportunity to specialise in one area through optional modules and the dissertation, while the Core Module ensures that you have a solid theoretical basis on which to build. The compulsory module in Research Methods enhances your skills in independent research and feeds directly into the preparation of the dissertation, as well as developing useful transferable skills for the job market. The programme focuses on films from Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. Ours is a positive, inclusive and democratic approach to film studies, entirely in tune with the aspirations of contemporary multicultural audiences. Rather than ratifying the usual division between the centre (Hollywood) and the periphery (the rest of the world), it defines world cinemas as a polycentric phenomenon with (often overlapping) peaks of creation in different places and periods. Liberated from the notion of a single centre, everything can be put on the world cinemas map, even Hollywood , which, instead of being seen as a threat, is simply one cinema amongst others.
