概要：The MSc in Magnetics is designed to provide specialised engineers and scientists to work in the field of Magnetics and its associated applications. The scheme will introduce candidates to the general subject areas of Magnetic fields, materials and applications and will also provide a basic understanding of the underlying science that determines properties of magnetic materials. Candidates will study the technological applications of magnetic materials including soft magnetic materials for electromagnetics and inductors, hard magnetic materials for permanent magnets, magnetic recording technology, data storage and disk drives, medical applications and the use of magnetic properties for structural evaluation. The scheme will also provide students with an understanding of scientific, technical, commercial, and risk management issues and practice in magnetics. The degree programme is available on a one year full-time basis, or on a two year part-time basis. The full-time scheme is delivered over two taught semesters followed by a research project and preparation of a dissertation. Assessment is conducted via coursework and examinations.
