概要：The History Program in the Faculty of Arts offers teaching and supervision in the histories of Australia, America, Europe and the British empire, covering the ancient, early modern, and modern periods. These regions and periods are approached from a wide range of historical perspectives: social, cultural, political, technological, medical, legal, intellectual, transnational, gender, sexuality and the body. History postgraduate students enrolled within the Faculty of Arts will become members of a scholarly community with a wide range of interests and innovative research projects within the School of Social Sciences. Unlike many comparable departments around Australia, the History Program encourages a high degree of staff and student interaction. Access to Supervisors and Advisers is easy, productive and highly individualised. Having established a Supervisor within History, students are able to select a supervisory panel from staff members across the University. They are also members of the Graduate Studies Field in History, which embraces History students from all parts of ANU and which offers numerous work-in-progress seminars. The relatively large postgraduate student body at ANU also provides a broader context for students who are interested in areas of interdisciplinary exchange. Although firmly situated within the discipline of history, students can take advantage of other scholars and scholarship which may complement their work. Of further advantage to postgraduate students at ANU is the flow of visiting academics, both within History and in other Centres and disciplinary areas.
