概要：The MA in Medical Anthropology run by the Department of Anthropology is intended for students wishing to pursue the study of the cultural understandings of medicine, health and healing from an anthropological perspective. The programme focuses on two distinct fields: the anthropology of health and medicine (or medical anthropology, which is a sub-discipline of anthropology) and the anthropology of development. The aim is to give students a thorough overview of both these fields and the ways in which they are connected. Such a holistic overview will enable students to gain an appreciation of the ways in which the anthropology of medicine is embedded within a range of broader social, economic and political issues. The course on the anthropology of development will also provide an introduction to the study of anthropology more generally which will be particularly useful for those students who are unfamiliar with the subject.
