概要：This taught programme is intended for students whose first degree, or equivalent experience, may be outside archaeology, as well as for those with some prior training in archaeology and/or anthropology who wish to acquire more specialist knowledge. The programme offers a combination of compulsory core courses and a choice of additional courses from a list of over 25 courses on themes or periods in the archaeology of Europe (including the British Isles), the Mediterranean and Middle East. Candidates are assessed on each course through coursework (equivalent to a 4000-word essay). Successful completion of the taught component of the programme qualifies candidates to receive the Postgraduate Diploma. Those who attain a satisfactory standard may proceed to an MSc, undertaking a supervised project on an approved topic and submitting a dissertation of approximately 15,000 words by September (60 credits). Award of the degree is normally approved in time for January graduation.
