概要：The programme will provide students with in-depth knowledge of the fundamental and practical aspects of flow and transfer processes, with particular emphasis on the effect of different scales, their interaction and their effect in the determination of the behaviour of multi-scale systems. The range of flow scales to be addressed will range from coarse-grain molecular modeling up to the larger scales normally addressed in most engineering courses. Students will benefit from the extensive state-of-the-art facilities such atomic force microscopy, pilot-size stirred reactors, particle-image and laser-velocimetry to massively parallel computing facilities and the new School server farm. The programme is of a unique nature as it draws on the multi-disciplinary expertise of the teaching staff and the cross-disciplinary aspects of the taught modules and project content.
