概要：This exciting programme combines the approaches of religious, social, cultural and political historians to take a fresh look at the Reformations in Britain and Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. It is taught by leading scholars whose expertise covers the cultural and religious landscape of the pre-Reformation church, New World discoveries, the Catholic Reformation in Europe and the political and cultural worlds of 16th and 17th century England. The programme comprises two core modules: The British and European Reformations focuses thematically on the content of the new ideas, the cultural practices that developed out of these, and their social and political impacts; it covers a diversity of topics ranging from ideas about tolerance and intolerance, and the material culture of clothing, to religious riot and the effects of the Puritan Revolution, The second core module is drawn from a list that includes: The English Church in the Reign of Henry VIII; Radical Belief in Britain and Early Modern Europe; The Age of Mary Queen of Scots; Catholic Reform in Early Modern Europe; and The English Civil War and Local Society .
